The Nylacast Casting Process is a unique polymer manufacturing technology and is particularly suited for the production of safety-critical worm wheels. The output of the Nylacast Casting Process is a first-class pure polymer grade, where the basic raw chemicals are carefully mixed in specially developed machines, and then poured into special tools where the polymerisation reaction takes place, i.e. polymerisation in-situ, and the product is formed. This process differs from the traditional injection “moulding” process, which usually involves at least two separate processing steps:

the compounding of the polymer (processing the basic polymer with additives);
the injection moulding of the polymer (reprocessing) to form the product.

The higher the number of the processing steps, the lower the molecular weight of the polymer and, therefore, the lower the durability of the final component.
